Critique Agreement
Submitting a critique to The Art Corner means that you agree to the following terms:
- That you are allowing the REFFs, as a body, to critique your work primarily based on craftsmanship, aesthetics, realism, and/or the comments that you as an applicant give us. Because of the nature of artwork, we will focus primarily on aspects of realism, such as light sourcing, shading, highlights, three-dimensional rendering, etc. We do critique all kinds of art, but know that our primary goal is to try and help the audience with subject/object-oriented artworks.
- That the picture you submit for critique is a work that you have worked diligently and earnestly on (rather than a five-minute sketch) and that it does not contain anything purposely offensive, tasteless, rude, mocking, or otherwise unfit for critique or audience viewing. We will not hesitate to delete these critique requests.
- you give us permission to publicly display the picture in our critique rotation. This shouldn't have to be said, really...we don't offer 'private' critiques, we post them all in our ACS Archive.
- You inherently give us permission to alter or resketch portions as a means of visual example. Some REFFs like to illustrate alterations and changes directly on a copy of the artwork. If you object to this, state it CLEARLY in your comments so we know!
- You will not seek any retaliation or other negative action due to our perception and critique or the artwork; we always do our best job possible, but we understand that sometimes our opinions and advice won't be agreed upon.
REMEMBER! Your artwork must be...
- Original (no copies or imitations of official artwork). Fan artwork is fine, but don't copy an artwork. We also discourage 'stolen' poses (taking an official artwork's pose/structure and using it with slight alterations) because either way, you're not showing us what YOUR art skills are, but what your imitation skills are of someone ELSE'S art skill.
- In good taste (go light on the possible offensive material)
- Your own artwork (Don't submit artworks of/for other people).
- Non-oekaki. The REFFs understand that oekaki works can be just as beautiful as artworks of any other media, but it has certain issues. Oekaki submissions had been a little too small for critiquing purposes; plus, there is a tendency of looking like they were done pretty quickly. It's not easy for us to tell, hence this policy.
Oekaki submissions received before the date of announcement will be honored, providing that they meet all other criteria of critiquing.
If you agree to these terms, then we're more than happy to critique for you! Close this window to return to the Application!
