Hanna Says: This piece is very well done altogether, the pose, shading, shapes, they all look right, and the drawing shows variety, I must say... there's not much I can help you with! ^_^" But since you want to learn how to draw the human figure better, that's what I'll be going into. Before that though, there's one little thing I'd like to point out. The hand that's holding out a staff (the one in the back, that is.) is too small, things usually look bigger when it's closer to you. Try making the hand twice the size it is now. And the thumb, it's bending at a strange angle. If you're not sure how it should look like, hold your hand that way and draw from a mirror. ^_^ The legs of the figure in the centre looks too straight, and the body seems to be missing that hour glass look. Her thighs can be a bit shorter and the body slightly longer. [Example] Again, whenever you're not sure how something should look, you can always look into a mirror, if not, there are always magazines to draw from. ^^ Last, the head of the figure in the background looks as if it's not connected to the body very well, the head should be a little bit more to the left. (am I making sense here? ^^") I'm guessing that the body was added after the figure in the centre was drawn? To avoid that, try finishing one figure first, and then add the next, even if it means you've got to do some erasing. ^_^

Lorelai Says: This is a GREAT picture! You have really captured the action, I love how she moves with that staff as well as her facial expression! I tend to sort of eye the legs a little, because they are so straight. Women have curvier legs than men, and a little exaggeration is often implemented in a style of drawing like yours. Also, in the moving picture of the elven girl, her hand is much closer to us than her head. Therefore it should be much bigger. Right now, it's about the size you'd see if she were holding her hand right next to her head. (perhaps even a bit smaller!) But I've already seen that Hanna has taken care of everything, with her excellent visual example, so I will spare you of my similar rant =) Instead, I'd like to congratulate on your control of line thickness and shading; next time implement this on the hair of your character! (Instead of the blocky style) I think her action pic could be especially spiced up, after all she's really moving! Great job!

GlassShard Says: Hi Jesse ^_^ It seems to me you have a fairly good understanding of the basic human figure (the practice with the model's you *were* able to get apparently paid off) I'd say you just need to polish your observational skills and refine some aspects of the figure like hands and joints. Again, just keep drawing what you see, fill up a whole sketchbook with hands in all different positions, focasing a lot of foreshortening, and don't be afraid to simplify! Anime hands are very simple and elegant, you can't see all the wrinkles and oftentimes you don't even have to draw the nails! Simplifying is a good way to learn form and then when you're more confident, you can focas more on the small stuff. But you have a good foundation and understanding going on, it's easy to see that you're dedicated. Just keep drawing!

Silas McLeere Says: Sorry about the late comment, didn't get the email. Anyway, howdy. I'm probably just going to end up rehashing what everyone above me said, since they pretty much summed everything up.Okay, we'll start with the head in the lower right hand corner. The only problems I noticed with it are a) The jaw is a bit too long when compared to the other two poses, and b) the neck is a bit wide. Try moving it back a bit on the jaw, about twice as far back as it is now. On to the middle figure, the full body shot... um... well, the arms could be a bit longer, but that's nothing big. Okay, back figure. The only thing I noticed was that the legs and stuff are shifted a bit too much off to the left, but that could just be because of the baggy clothes. I dunno, everything looks kosher to me, only thing you can start on now is coloring, and I'm afraid I'm not qualified to give you any advice about that. ;D
