Artist's Comments: Im not quite sure about the intermediate
thing (woah look out the giant ego is heading your way!!!) well
I WOULDNT concider myself advanced (no da *lol*) or much of a begginer
(well maybe...I only been drawing for about 4.5 years -_-) but if
you concider kei or meriko or anyone else there intermediate I would
have to say Im a begginner then this pic I think is sorta cute ^-^
I was just experimenting with pastel (and just made a pic to work
on) and she came out better than I thought she would, now that I
think about it it reminds me of a young selphie (FF8)

Says: Cuteness! *laugh* That wasn't a very helpful critique comment, was it? Okay, first the praise: as previously mentioned, cuteness personified! Elements such as the large head and eyes combined with the little body, pigtails, and of course, the winking all go together quite nicely. What's the word? Oh, "harmonious!" And the eyes aren't within speaking distance of "hopeless." If anything caught my attention, it was the placement of the winking eye. When you wink, the closed eye is level with the lower lid of the open eye, since the upper lid comes down to the lower one in order to cover the eyeball. The impression of lopsidedness in the eyes is probably strengthened by the fact that the outline of her face isn't quite symmetrical. (The "look-at-your-picture-in-a-mirror trick is quite useful for symmetry!) Her right (my left) jawline is longer than the other side, and so her cheekbone is higher up on her face than on the other side. As far as proportions/placement in general, I'm not sure how to critique, since I think you were going for a kind of SD style, so here's a few tidbits. I highly recommend the sausage method! ^_^ Sketch a human figure using ovals and circles to draw the various body parts. Egg-ish oval for the head, column for the neck, etc. Circles come in handy for elbows and knees. Drawing in symmetrical (use the mirror) ovals will help you to finish up with a balanced picture. It's also easier to gauge length when looking at simple shapes instead of arms and legs. (at least for me) The coloring is simple and nice, but you know what a coloring piggie I am...the more the merrier! Coloring, highlights, and shading really make a picture come alive, so I encourage you to whip out those pastels again and have at it! Keep up the good work!
