TAC IRC chatroom Rules
Please note that #artcorner on esper.net (IRC) is no longer officially affiliated with The Art Corner website. The REFFs simply ran out of time to properly maintain the channel. Therefore, the rules below may not always be enforced, though they are mostly basic IRC etiquette and failure to abide by them can anger your chat peers.
• Maintain a PG-13 atmosphere. We must all remember that visitors in our chatroom range from age 13 to over 30. Since this is the case, we have to keep it a relatively clean chatroom, which means keep the vulgarity, obscenity, and profanity down. (Yes, they are all different things.) We realize that 'PG-13' means different things to different people, but if you're not smart enough to figure out what a parent wouldn't want a 13 year old kid to hear/see just yet, you don't belong in this chatroom anyway!

• Do not critique any artwork in front of the artist unless asked. Plugging artworks for praise-fishing
can be annoying, but criticizing a piece that the artist does not want (ie. gift art) critiqued can be hurtful.
You can always ask the artist before giving your helpful criticisms. ^_^ Thank you.

• NO harassing ArtBot, the REFFs, or chat members. For example, do NOT pop into the channel repeatedly looking for only one person. Do NOT harass ArtBot when she speaks; she usually speaks ONLY when you're in enough trouble as it is! Also, never harass chat members!!! If you feel you are being harassed, contact a REFF, in person or by memo, immediately!

• Do not flood the channel. If you have a writing you'd like to share with everyone, please ask before
pasting.

• No racism allowed. We at TAC firmly believe that racism is an utter injustice. Never make any kind of
remarks/insults that reeks of racism. When in doubt, don't.

• Avoid discussing religions. The religion is an extremely sensitive topic for many people. Even though
you might want to say something positive/totally neutral about a religion, please hold it - you never know how others
would interprete your words, or what others are going to comment on your opinion. And never, ever insult religions.

• Do not fight in public. If you happen to strongly disagree with a chatter and want to have a debate that
might turn fierce, please use private messaging (/msg username). If you feel offended at a chatter and think the person
has violated one or more of the rules shown in this page, please contact a REFF about it instead of fighting in public. Thank
you!

• Warn before plugging a possibly offensive file. Nudity, pornography, extreme violence, homosexuality
(although there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, some people can be offended), and/or depiction of racism and/or
other things that the #Artcorner rules forbid must be warned. When you do warn, please make it very visible by using
boldface (Ctrl + B), underline (Ctrl + U), red color (Ctrl + K then 4 with no space), etc.

• No excessive swearing allowed. The REFFs will usually allow "dirty" words as long as they aren't
used to insult a person in the chatroom. Here's an example of swearing used not to insult somebody: "Holy ****!
I must have been lagging for an hour!" While these would be an example
meant to insult: "What you just said was utter bull****" "**** you!" "You ********!" Also, please try to not to
swear too much. You will be warned if a REFF feels you're starting to overdo it; if you ignore the warning, serious
consequences will follow.
